General
- What is Warcrafter?
-
Warcrafter lets you view all kinds of stats on World of Warcraft characters. In addition,
you can alter the equipment and their enhancements (enchants and gems), as well as your talents and
buffs on characters. You can also create a character from scratch. This all in order to see
how it affects your stats. It also keeps tracks of guild progression and assigns a gear score to
character and rank them on this gear score.
- Where can I submit bug reports, feature requests and inaccuracies?
-
Due to the large amount of feedback that hasn't been handled yet, bug reports are
currently closed for a little while. You can still email them however. Look in the
About page.
- Is there a changelog or list of known bugs?
-
I tried that, but my administrative skill is lacking. Don't hesitate to post bugs
however, reporting something that has already been reported only gets it fixed sooner.
- What features are coming in the future?
- More options for the modelviewer (hairstyles, colors, guild emblem, mounts, pets, save these settings per character)
- Hunter Pet stats, and pet skills in general (both passive and active).
- Choosing suffixes for 'low-level' items in the sandbox.
- Guild Masters can enter various data for their guild such as website url and description, and emblem for the modelviewer.
- The ability for registered users to submit miscellaneous information about their characters, such as
mounts obtained, important items that cannot be equipped, pet names. In the somewhat far future, this
information could be displayed in the graphical preview of characters.
- Better gear upgrade selections.
- A 'who else has this item' option in item context menus.
- Better item comparison (including suffix stats and sockets)
- Librams, totems and idols working.
- More set bonuses working.
- More obscure buffs added.
- More racials working.
- Better buff selector (icons for starters, maybe a searchbox when the bufflist grows too large).
- Better enchant and gem selector (Currently it feels a little cramped).
Character Sheet
- My character sheet keeps getting stuck at loading, what is going on?
-
Warcrafter currently supports Firefox, and Internet Explorer 6+. While it may work in other
browsers, it may not advance past the loading screen. If you do use any of the supported browsers
and you have this problem, make sure you have Javascript enabled. If that appears to be enabled,
try clearing your browser's file cache (url history/cookies etc. you can keep),
and restarting your browser. If that does not help, you might have hit a bug in Warcrafter. In
this case you can help by posting the scripting errors you are getting as a bug report (accessed
in IE via the exclamation icon in the bottom-left), in Firefox via Tools > Error Console).
- The Model Viewer is not working or stuck at loading, what is going on?
-
The Model Viewer uses Flash 9. Internet Explorer 64-bit does not support Flash and Adobe advices
users of this browser to use a 32-bit version of Internet Explorer to view Flash content.
If your model does not load, a soft-reload or two may well fix that (done easiest by switching to the
Spells tab beneath the Model Viewer and back to the Character tab). If that does not help, a
hard-reload might work (Ctrl+F5). If that fails too, please post a bug report.
- Where does Warcrafter retrieve my character info from?
-
When your character is first being viewed, it retrieves the data from the World of Warcraft Armory. If your data seems outdated,
you can use the 'Resync' link to retrieve the data again from the Armory.
If the data is 2 weeks or older, Warcrafter will automatically update the character when
it is being viewed.
- How are the displayed abilities selected?
-
Abilities are not selected by class, but rather by specialization. Only abilities that either do damage
or healing initiated by a character are currently displayed. This does for example currently not include
abilities that absorb damage, cause threat but no damage, or thorn-shields.
- How is gear score calculated?
-
Each item has an item level. Blizzard uses this item level, in conjunction with an
item quality multiplier, an item slot multiplier and a multiplier for how many different
bonuses a single item has to calculate a 'budget' for the item from which bonuses may be
'bought' for the item. Warcrafter displays this budget in it's item tooltips. The gear score
is the sum of all equipped item budgets.
An interesting note is that a lot of stats, for example most base stats and all ratings, cost
exactly one 'budget', so when your gearscore is 1000, this implies that you could have gotten
around 1000 intellect or around 1000 critical strike rating from equipment, in case all your
equipment would bestow only a single bonus.
- Are Feral Druid abilities available?
-
Yes. Open the buffs window and select a feral form. Click the 'Build Stats' button if you
do not have 'Auto-Build' enabled.
Sandbox
- How are gear upgrades selected?
-
Warcrafter displays every (up to 50) items that have a higher item level then the item you
are upgrading, and you can still equip (required level, proficiencies). Some items, such as
quest rewards, do not have a level requirement, in which case Warcrafter tries to imply one
based on the item level.
- Where is my saved character?
-
While every visitor can play in the sandbox, only registered users can save their creations.
As such, it is advised to register prior to creating a character you want to save, in case you
haven't. The first time you save a new character, it should ask you for a name, and it will
redirect you to a new url, which you can bookmark. Subsequent saves will not prompt you for a name,
nor will any redirection happen. Saved characters will also show up in your Account Management sheet. If you used
an existing character as offset, the sandbox profile should be listed under the profiles for the
existing character too.
Progression
- How does Warcrafter calculate guild progression?
-
Whenever one of your guilds' characters is being viewed, your guilds' progression will update
with the loot from that character. For example if you view a character that has a Tier 4 headpiece
equipped, your guild will be marked as having progressed beyond Prince Malchezaar, as tier 4
headpiece tokens drop from this boss. When most of your guilds' characters have never been viewed,
your guilds' progression will likely be inaccurate. If you wish to get your guilds' progression
more accurate, visit more members from your guild which are marked as unviewed.
